High above, the small bird enjoys the flowers of its maple tree. A mysterious humming that needs to be fathomed sends him on a journey into a magical world of flowers. Of course, the fiery red fox is soon on the little bird’s heels. Trailed by bad luck the fox makes acquaintance with the hard-working bees. The final encounter with the beehive results into a rather unpleasant surprise for the troublemaker.

The little bird has plenty of peace and quiet high up in its tree, at least until an unexpected guest shows up. The brash caterpillar’s keen on devouring the green leaves that the little bird has cared for so tenderly. During the ensuing showdown, the two fail to notice that someone else is hard on their heels, and this character’s craving a more savoury snack.

It is autumn. There is one last colourful leaf hanging at the end of a long branch. The little black bird would like to water it, but the squirrel snatches away the watering can and begins hopping with it from tree to tree. The little bird follows the cheeky thief but then the fiery red fox comes stalking. He is not interested in the watering can. He wants the bird and the squirrel. Good job they can hide beneath the colourful autumn leaves. And good thing too that you can play trumpet on a watering can. How nice it is when a pair having a row become friends after all.

It is winter. At the end of a branch hangs a single leaf. A little black bird comes along to water the leaf, but it falls off. The wind lifts the leaf and dances with it through the snowy wood. The little bird joins in, delighted. But the fiery red fox behind the tree is already licking his lips.
